BACKGROUND

TOM (aka The Old Market) was opened in 2011 by the creators of the global percussive phenomenon STOMP to create an independent hub for the arts in Brighton & Hove - to give something back to the city that had supported them as artists for so many years.

Brighton & Hove is a great melting pot of artists, musicians, writers and filmmakers, and creativity amounts to nothing without an audience and a great space to present and develop your ideas.

We now host over 200 different events for over 65,000 people every year from this fantastic multi-format venue - from live music to film - from theatre to dance - from cabaret and comedy to literature and workshops - encouraging artists to create new works in a safe and inspiring environment, pushing artistic boundaries and exploring new technologies.

WHAT IS CHANGING?

After twelve years of transformation and dedicated philanthropy, TOM has now started to operate as an independent charity.

This exciting next chapter and status will position TOM to deliver a sustainable future for its facilities and maintain its independent and innovative approach to the arts.

WHY TOM 500?

The Old Market Charitable Trust does not currently receive any regular public funding so our income will all be self-generated. We will depend on the generosity of individuals like you. Every ticket purchased, event hosted, donation made, and pound earned supports our innovative programme and enables the widest possible range of people to experience the magic of The Old Market.

The TOM 500 is an exciting opportunity to get directly involved with the arts – helping to protect this unique space and champion the many artists who use it to create incredible and inspiring work. As a TOM 500 participant, you will gain a unique vantage point, invitations to exclusive events, enjoy exclusive benefits, and share these incredible experiences with other like-minded, passionate participants, TOM Trustees and team. It is an opportunity to be heard within the arts, to give advice, ideas, and suggestions on how TOM performs, to hold TOM accountable to the aspirations and values it seeks to uphold - and to be a proud, proactive participant in helping secure the future of this fantastic venue for generations to come.
