GIG FOR A GIG
Established artists support the next generation by donating a performance at TOM.
When we opened in 2011, we were cutting out tickets by hand. Now, we’re at the cutting edge. Over this time we’ve been able to support hundreds of emerging performers and have put on thousands of events, all thanks to the private funding of some of the city’s leading artists. Now we’re carrying on in the footsteps of this proud tradition with our Gig for a Gig initiative. We’re asking established artists to support the next generation by donating a performance here at TOM. Then, the proceeds will fund future performances by some of the brightest emerging talent in the industry.
Keep an eye out for more gigs coming soon!

Check out this highlight video from the very first Gig for a Gig here at TOM, with Brighton legend Fatboy Slim!
Huge thank you to Adam, Charlotte and the Team at Big Egg Films for making this awesome video - you guys rule.
Events that have been supported through funds raised via the Gig for a Gig initiative include…
WES BANDERSON
The brainchild of bassist Adam Znaidi (The Physics House Band / The GO! Team), this was the first event supported by Gig for a Gig. A multi-instrumentalist outfit, the show featured some of the most iconic tracks, as well as a few hidden gems, from movies by world-renowned filmmaker Wes Anderson. There were even bespoke animations to accompany every piece performed!
OEDIPUS ELECTRONICA
From the amazing Mella Faye and Pecho Mama came this tale of the ultimate love triangle… Mother. Father. Son. The story of a playwright struggling with a commission deadline and the threat of an emergency hysterectomy. Over 24 mind-bending hours, she feverishly writes her own Oedipus, the most explosive of Greek myths, and exorcises her long-buried grief for the child that didn’t live.
VIVID: A REIGNING WOMEN CELEBRATION
The first in a new series of gigs as part of our Reigning Women programme. We had spoken word sets performed by Mally and AFLO. the Poet, followed by live music from Kymara with her full band set. The night culminated with a joint headline set by Scarlett Fae and Sylvia Mwenze (pictured). All accompanied by stunning projections around the auditorium. Photo by Chloe Hashemi.
